When and where do you all meet?
We meet every Saturday at 9am in the Cigna fitness center at 1601 Chestnut St Philadelphia, PA.
I’m not very fast, do I need to be “in shape” to join?
We cater all needs and abilities. Every week we have a wide range of paces and abilities, from walkers to runners. There will always be someone to run, walk, or run-walk with you.
I’ve never guided before, is this a problem? Is it difficult?
Don’t worry! We always have experienced guides on hand to help train our new volunteers. You can read more about what it is like to guide here.
What do I need to do to join? Do I need to bring anything?
For your first time we do ask that you bring a volunteer or athlete form that can be found here on our site, otherwise, just show up and be ready to run or walk!
Do you run outside?
Most of our workouts will take place outside, however we do have access to a gym, thus when the weather is bad or roads are dangerous, some athletes and volunteers do chose to exercise in the gym instead.
What’s the best way to get there? Is there parking?
The Cigna building is conveniently located near most major public transit options. We’re just 2 blocks from Septa Regional Rail and 3 blocks from the Patco line. There is also metered street parking available.
Can I just volunteer to guide in races?
Unfortunately, no. We use our Saturday workouts to gain experience guiding so we can ensure our athletes will be safe in the races.
What if I can’t make it every Saturday?
No problem! You do not need to commit to attending every week, just show up when you can.
